Baby Shower Invitations - Storybook Theme

Many moms have more than one child and sometimes do not need all the new baby gear. By having each guest bring their favorite childhood storybook you can celebrate the new baby and create a memorable baby shower.

Start the theme with the perfect invitations.  Create an invitation that is a miniature storybook including all the important information your guests will need.

Here is what you need:

Makes 9 invitations

Affordable & crafty version:

  • 1 - 20 x 30 sheet of poster board (choose your favorite color or white)
  • 1 - box of brass paper fasteners
  • 1 - package of parchment paper
  • Glue

Step 1: Cut your poster board into 6" x 10" sections. You should get 9 invitations for each sheet of poster board.  Fold in half .

Step 2: Cut 3 sheets of parchment paper into 5 1/2" tall x 4 1/2" wide sections. 

Step 3: Print or write on the first sheet of parchment paper:

This book belongs to: NEW BABY (name or family’s new addition)

Step 4: Print or write on the second sheet of parchment paper:

Remember when you were very wee, and storytime made you oh-so happy?
Let’s build a library for the new (family’s last name) child with books that let your imagination grow.
Bring a book new or old and memories of our youth will surely unfold.

Step 5: Print or write on the third sheet of parchment paper:

The details of your party.  Time, place, date, etc.

Step 6: Use three brass paper fasteners to attach the poster board and three sheets of parchment paper together like you would bind a book.

Step 7: For the cover you can use the links below to find storybook cover pictures, or you can personalize the cover with a picture of the mommy and daddy-to-be.

Step 8: Address envelope and mail.

EXTRA : Use a gold paint pen and color the edges of the parchment paper.

Fast and Easy version:

Step 1: Print a storybook cover picture using the link below, or use pictures of the new family-to-be and insert into each card.

Step 2: Cut parchment paper into 3 1/2" x 5" sheets.  You will need three sheets per invitation.

Step 3: Follow steps 3, 4, and 5 above.

Step 4: Open card, arrange parchment paper in order, and use three brass paper fasteners to attach paper to card.

Step 5: Address envelope and mail.

Having a unique baby shower that gets guests involved right away will lead to many fun memories.
