Mom’s love is beyond measure!! What a true statement, and often said. With Mother’s day right around the corner, I can not help but stop and think about how much has been invested into my life by my mother.
I only began to have some insight on this subject when I became a mother myself. Having a new baby is so much work. I look at my mother today and she is still working as a mother.
I have talked with my grandmother and she tells me and my mother that the work never ends as a mom. She tells us that your children still come to you in their 50’s asking for the love, attention and advice you gave them when they were a child.
So, I attribute this themed baby shower to all the mom’s in the world, because truly our love for our children is unmeasurable! It is infinite . . .
Invitations:
You want to set the theme early by sending the invitations with a piece of tape measure. Take one tape measure (the fabric measuring type) and cut it into even pieces so all the guests have a similar sized piece. Attach it to your invitations and explain the theme. Tell each guest to bring a contribution to the new mom to put in her magic medicine basket (read below).
Party Favors:
Your party favors can be easy and very useful for your guests. Purchase small tape measures, and print labels commemorating the day of the baby shower. Place the label on the front of the tape measure and slide it in a mesh colored sack (found in the baby or wedding aisle of your local craft or mega store).
Food:
Look for many baby shower recipes throughout our blog. The baby block cake would be a perfect addition to this baby shower theme!
Decorations:
- Table cloths
- Measuring tapes
- Balloons
- Band-Aids
- Sticky Notes
- Baby blocks
This is an easy theme to decorate. Pick up some table cloths, pink if is a girl, and blue if it a boy. Purchase 4-6 white measuring tapes similar to what you see in the pictures above. You can find this near the craft section or anywhere where they sell fabric.
If white is not available purchase yellow. Keep your color scheme simple, Pink & White (yellow) or Blue & White (yellow). Use the tape measure all around on your tables. Shape them in hearts and twirl them in circles.
Purchase items of love . . .
- Something that would make your child happy, like balloons
- Something to keep them safe, like children’s Band-Aids . . . place them everywhere.
- Take sticky notes, that go with your colored theme and put red lipstick kisses on them. Kiss a dozen sticky notes and place them everywhere the guests will be.
- Place baby blocks all around (the fundamental children’s toy).
Activities:
Everyone will take part in making a magic mommy medicine basket. Have everyone weave in their piece of measuring tape along with ribbons and other decorations you may have picked up.
Glue decorations on and write with marker or paint all over it just as a kid may do. Then have everyone place in their mom magic gift such as a flash light, thermometer, bandages, or a decorated bottle of peroxide.
Give the magic medicine basket to the new mom-to-be. She can then tell her child that just before they were born all these wonderful angels got together and made a magical medicine basket so whenever the baby was feeling bad or got hurt it would heal them.
Every child loves to believe in magic! It will be a great keepsake, and prepare the new mom for those concerned moments.
